Information About Changes to Renting Law
You may have seen news about new laws changing how renting works in England, known as the Renters’ Rights Act.
These changes came into effect for many private renters from 1 May 2026, and landlords in that sector were asked to give their tenants an information sheet explaining what the changes mean.
For Agamemnon Housing Association tenants, things are slightly different. As a registered provider of social housing, the new rules do not yet apply to most of our homes. This means there was no requirement for us to issue this information sheet to tenants in our sheltered housing schemes by 31 May 2026.
Your tenancy, rent arrangements and rights remain the same for now, and there is nothing you need to do.
The Government has indicated that similar changes will be introduced to social housing in the future. When that happens, we will write to you clearly and in plenty of time to explain what is changing and how it may affect you.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or would simply like more information, please feel free to get in touch with us. We are always happy to help.
